Through careful intervention, interiordesigner Stephanie Brown makes contemporary this idyllic Indian Wells Vacation Home just outside the city proper. A series of piecemeal renovations left the property feeling dated: ceramic flooring that had to go; defunct fireplaces; poor space planning; and an inefficient kitchen layout.
The marriage of architectural styles creates a sense of balance, where the rawness of exposed concrete slabs and beams is offset by the deliberate simplicity of the design. Every element, from the materials to the layout, contributes to an environment that feels both powerful and serene.
The apartments layout, while largely retaining its original structure, underwent strategic adjustments to enhance spatial efficiency. The living area, envisioned as a central social hub, connects to auxiliary spaces like a custom-designed bar and an open kitchen, emphasizing inclusivity and interaction.
