Born on May 3rd, 1931, in Çorum, Turkey, Sait Maden started writing poetry at the age of 13 and began learning French and Ottoman at the age of 16. He learned Spanish to be able to translate Lorca from his mother tongue. From 1949–55 he studied at IDGSA Painting Department in Istanbul, graduating from Bedri Rahmi Eyübo?lu Workshop. As a side job between 1955 and 1960 Maden designed logos, billboard displays, theatre decors, and cinema posters.

London-based animation studio Nomint has created a stop-motion video for the World Wide Fund for Nature’s (WWF) Arctic programme, as it launches a new campaign about the polar ice caps. It tells the story of a young polar bear, trying to survive in an Arctic environment that is melting. In an attempt to put a new spin on the familiar plight of the polar bear, Nomint has used actual melting ice in the video (creating 500 unique bear ice-sculptures in the process)
