Most people do not hear the stories of failure or the struggles that lead up to the present. People often think from my stories that I am happy with my path as a designer, but the reality is far from it. Often, like with history, it is skipped over to the more interesting parts – the story usually being spiced up for dramatic effect.
Over time, they have inevitably structured themselves, organising and presenting themselves with a voice, a posture, an aesthetic. Like so many startups, these companies grew up without really thinking of themselves as brands. They were projects, products, platforms. These rebrands are not a mere graphic update.
But try presenting that to a real client, on a real budget, with real contractors – and it falls apart fast – as these frustrated designers sick of AI attest to. So for real world designers: Fictional AI delivers fantasy outputs: un-sourceable, non-spec’d images that entertain but can’t be built on.
