In legalese, a contract is a promise, or set of promises, for a breach of which the law gives a remedy, or the performance of which the law in some way recognizes as a duty.In plain English, a contract lays out an agreement between two parties. If you don’t hold up your end of the agreement, the other party can sue you to recoup their losses. When you’re in business, you need contracts because they lay out the expectations for both you and the person you’re doing business with.

We are sad to hear about the passing of our friend and incredibly prolific illustrator, Jason Polan. He was 37. As reported by the NY Times and confirmed by his family, the cause was cancer. From Every Person in New York to The Every Piece of Art in the Museum of Modern Art Book, Jason was just full of humanity and humor. "I am trying to draw every person in New York," he wrote long ago on his blog, a Blogspot page kept up to date until recently.
