The days of fonts being created by hand are long gone. These days fonts tend to be created through the use of design programs and one of the most recent formats to reach the stage is OpenType-SVG which is a font format that has some or all of the components that it consists of presented as scalable vector graphics. These SVG fonts feature gradients, patterns, or colors which are embedded in the characters themselves.

Seattle, where I live, is a very cloudy city with well over 200 days of clouds a year (or 300 if this is to be believed ), so having a bit of color is key for counteracting all the gray. Shannon Snow ’s illustrations are a salve; the vibrant colors and nature scenes are undeniably cheerful. Their uplifting, playful scenes—of bugs climbing over mushrooms or a smiling turtle marching—will definitely inspire you to go outside the next sunny day that you see.

Brutalist Branding for Tallinn Music Week of 2019. abduzeedo 05.21.20 AKU shared a fresh branding project on their Behance page. It’s the visual identity for the Tallinn Music Week of 2019. I don’t know much about the project or the event but I like how brutalist it is. The folks over at AKU used some primitive objects and animations to create this striking look.

Mental Health Coalition, by Paula Scher. Pentagram New York designer Paula Scher has created the identity for Mental Health Coalition, a collaboration with fashion designer Kenneth Cole. Most galleries are closed right now but in Sweden the restrictions aren’t as bad (although they are many) and I actually managed to have an opening this past weekend (with a smaller, socially distanced crowd) at Galleri Ping-Pong, a great gallery in Malmö, Sweden.
