Héctor Esrawe Portrait by Alejandro Ramirez Orozco Héctor Esrawe is a prolific furniture and interiordesigner, architect, academic and entrepreneur, living and working in Mexico City. She is renowned for her insights into socially responsive approaches to architecture, design and urbanism.
Among its award-winning projects are 2013’s Inuvik Children’s First Centre (a brightly hued education and childcare facility whose arcing shape wraps an outdoor playground in a protective embrace) and 2015’s Betty’s Haven (a handsomely appointed Whitehorse transition home for women and children escaping domestic violence).
Since founding her practice in 1996, she has produced a remarkable portfolio of built works, from private and public housing to urban design, and from higher education buildings to arts institutions. In 2016, O+A won the Cooper Hewitt Design Award for InteriorDesign.
In 2012 Barber Osgerby launched the strategy-based industrial design consultancy Map Project Office. Barber and Osgerby have garnered numerous accolades throughout their career; in 2013 they appointed to the Order of the British Empire and in 2015 were awarded the London Design Medal.
