Café Royal Books has only ever been me. It started in 2005. There’s a few books that they make that are interesting in that way — formats questioning what a book can be. And she wrote a book called Six Years: The Dematerialization of the Art Object from 1966 to 1972. Six Years …, by Lucy Lippard.

Recommended for posters, product packaging, magazine spreads and book covers, this serif font was designed by Lucas Sharp and published by Village in 2013.

Three of them riff on Ford’s iconic striped design for Updike’s first novel. To learn more about Updike the art director, I revisited Chip Kidd’s 2005 monograph, Book One. Kidd is an acclaimed book cover designer who created many jackets for and with Updike at Knopf.
