If you choose to regularly create artistic work, whether it’s your main source of income or knitting scarves in front of the telly, you will likely have been met with comments such as “ooh, could you do me something like that?” “Could you whip me up a quick logo?” or “Could you draw my portrait?” (and the list goes on). Last week Steve Ditko left us to join the hoary hosts of Hoggoth. He will be remembered worldwide for his role in creating Spiderman , definitely one of his lesser artistic achievements. Ditko was a highly imaginative comic artist whose half baked political philosophies eventually led him to a role as a hermit and an outsider artist. He would disapprove of any tribute that purported to interpret his work.

I was commissioned by Think Publishing to create lettering and illustration for a the cover and feature article in Optometry Today magazine. The feature was all about Dry Eye Syndrome and how to treat it and so I was commissioned to create some elaborate lettering for the cover and some illustrations to sit alongside the article that helped to illustrate the text.
