Hale is an artist well worth following because he continues to grow and evolve in interesting ways I've just received an advance copy of Hale's beautiful new book, Use Music to Kill , a collection of his work from 2004 to 2018. The book gives us a rich collection of three types of work: paintings, drawings and photographic assemblages.

Their first completed project was Casa Negra, built in Mexico City in 2004. Finished in 2004, it became what I consider my first built work. The idea came directly from the geometry of the museum’s building, which was designed by the German-Mexican artist Mathias Goeritz. I rejected the idea of designing a pavilion as an object.

The other reason came from his close relation with artists who told him early on not to throw away anything, in order to document his development and for potential commercial value.
