Certainly, if you were a particular type of designer in the early 2000s, Dot Dot Dot was the most exciting publication you could find. Then I thought, why not?

It’s not the only time Pantone has broken their own rules with the Colour of the Year program, however. The history of Pantone’s colour of the year began in 2000 with Cerulean blue — a shade that now calls to mind an infamous scene from The Devil Wears Prada (2006).

The prolific furniture and product designer Luca Nichetto graduated from the Università Iuav di Venezia in 1998 and began his career in industrial design the very next year. He started out at the Murano-based glass maker Salviati, and then worked as a product designer and consultant for lighting company Foscarini.
