It was a combination of “fear and frustration” at just this issue that prompted Indian graphic designer Kawal Oberoi into launching his online Swatch Bharat platform. “I saw a beautifully hand-painted sign for Pepsi, but the next time I was there it had been replaced with just a typical Pepsi advert instead.”

If you run a small cafe that understands its demographic, there’s a high chance that you might only need help creating a new logo, printed goods such as menus, and a shop sign. It’s important to remember that your design agency won’t be working only on your project. You might not even have a website.

Forte in use for a shop sign, spotted by Tom Koch in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Reißberger’s typeface consequently appeared on shop signs in Mumbai, food packaging from Singapore, and manhole covers in Palermo. Like Mistral , it’s a brilliant design that has fallen into disregard after years of amateur use.
