It all started off as a curious discovery exercise (like how most of my side projects begin), that soon lead into a 5 month bookdesign journey. My deep love for books, their design and contents, has always been strong, but designing a book, rather than just consuming one, is a totally different ball game.
The elimination of critique, I believe, stems from designers’ fear that their identity as a “good designer” is at risk when critique is present. Joining a community that has implicitly agreed to eliminate critique provides a safe haven for performative design and, in turn, accelerates the adoption of performative design. .
