Design studio Barceló created a packaging design for a bean-to-bar chocolate line inspired by the history and scientific name of the cocoa bean – Theobroma. In Greek, Theobroma means ‘food of the gods.’ The cocoa fruit comes from the cocoa tree, scientifically known as Theobroma cacao, and originates from tropical regions.

The chocolate bars feature Greek gods as main characters, representing the different flavors of chocolate in a unique and historical context. The design is modern and original, while still being flexible and timeless. The goal is to captivate consumers with an engaging visual story that is both creative and exquisite.

The packaging has cream-colored paper (Antique White) that gives a combination of classic and modern warmth with an artisanal feel. The designers used a die-cut that doesn’t require glue, and the same box design is used for all models. Also, they used cost-effective monochrome printing. The labels are available in different colors that catch the eye and have a modern and informative structure.

The design uses flexible elements to differentiate products while maintaining a timeless look. The variable labels offer variety while keeping a standardized base across product lines. Studio Barceló created a design that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing, and it aims to engage consumers while providing important product information.
