Photographer Spotlight: Aleksandr Babarikin

Originally from Belarus, photographer Aleksandr Babarikin moved to New York a little over a year ago. Working full-time as a software engineer, he has been making photographs as a hobby for the past two years, and hopes to eventually focus on his photography full-time. With his images, taken throughout New York, Babarikin hopes to convey an “impression” of the world around him — “an idea, feeling, or opinion about something or someone, especially one formed without conscious thought or on the basis of little evidence.” Using methods of abstraction, blur, distortion, and reflection, his open-ended impressions “allow the viewer to form their own experience.”
