Entrepreneur and baker du jour Jason Sigala wanted to open his own bakery in Southern California, offering quality, old-fashioned American desserts made from scratch. He wanted his shop’s branding to have a decidedly mid-century East Coast look and feel. Tim Frame was commissioned to create the brand identity for this foodie start-up, that would be called Towne Bakery.

I've been meaning to take part in Off Life Magazine's quick draw challenge for a while, and luckily for me they fired it back up a few weeks ago and I jumped on board. The basic idea is: they tweet a theme, and you have one hour to respond to it with an illustration. This week, the theme was 'weirdest thing I've seen at a festival', and I ran with it, creating overly-critical-music-snob-cat.

A welcome bit of seasonal fare is the redesigned Epicurious , a hub for recipes, how-to articles, and inspiration for all things gastronomic. Building on the site’s massive recipe database, the Epicurious team took on the challenge of improving accessibility and adding new ways to discover content, two goals in which web fonts play a central part.

The great Mort Drucker is famous for drawing funny, not sexy. Yet, if you look back at his stories for MAD Magazine, you'll see they were often packed with beautiful women: At the recent annual conference of the National cartoonist Society, Drucker was awarded the first NCS Medal of Honor for his lifetime achievement. Ready for summer time? Letterer Martina Flor is, too. “For this wallpaper I worked on a flower power inspired design, using letter shapes with organic forms that remind to the movement of water,” says Martina. “As usual, I shared a hand-sketch with Creative Live’s design team, and once we were all happy about the direction I moved onto the vector drawing, improving shapes, curves and proportions, and working within a color scheme that works with the concept.” LEARN MORE A

So I treated myself to a new Summer outfit from H&M (thanks to some birthday vouchers!) and the colour combo sparked me into sketching my first ever What I Wore illustration. It's just a quick 'un, but it was great to get in a bit of practice in drawing standing pose weighting (it's always good to brush up on it!). I've been considering launching a 30 days of 'What I Wore' with a sketch like this for each day of July!
