Dive!

Emmeline Illustration

It's Summer! Yes! I've been really getting back into my illustration work for pleasure after tying up the last loose ends from 'The Lavender Blue Dress' book project (which was a long and brilliant commission!). Spending Summer by the sea has definitely been inspiring, and having a week off can really help reset the ol' creativity. I wanted to have fun creating a simple illustration, and to really focus on movement - and with the hot, humid weather we've been having lately an illustration of a c

'Good Evening M'lady'

Chris Dunn Illustration/Fine Art

Good Evening M'lady Watercolour / Gouache 24 x 31cm I had lots of fun bringing my rag and bone badger and lamplighter weasel characters together for this painting. There is no doubt that I have benefited re-using two characters in a new painting, the turn around was slightly quicker than normal because most of the colour decisions had already been made in previous paintings and the overall atmosphere is lifted straight from 'Rag & Bone'.

Why I’m so negative about positivity

Paul Jarvis

I want to explain why I'm so negative about positivity, but first, try not to think about a white bear for one minute. Tough, right? Since I mentioned the white bear and then said not to think about.

New from H&Co: Tungsten Rounded

Fonts by Hoefler&Co.

There’s a wonderful materiality about rounded letters. Their lighter weights have an engineered quality: for me, they always bring to mind the controlled movements of a router, steadily cutting channels in brass or steel and leaving behind a spray of metal shavings. Their heavier weights are the stuff of the roadside, both the vacuform plastic letters that advertise gas stations and motels, and the painted signs that herald this week’s prices for groceries or liquor.

Shingeki no Kyojin - Attack on Titan illustration

Emmeline Illustration

Hi guys! This is actually a bit of an oldie, but I've just realised I didn't upload it when I finished it way back in March. A few of you have probably heard of Attack on Titan , and boy did I get hooked on the show - mysterious walls, giant loopy-faced titans that eat people, secret keys and gravity defying battles? - Oh yeah. I haven't read the manga, and I'll admit that I'm veeery picky when it comes to manga art styles - but I'm trying to not let that put me off some really great stories, so

Good Evening M'lady WIP

Chris Dunn Illustration/Fine Art

I'm currently working on this painting called 'Good Evening M'lady'. A couple of likely lads trying their best to catch the flower seller's eye. Is she stifling a smile? You may recognise the weasel from this and the badger from 'Rag And Bone' below: He could do with a bath. I down tools tomorrow because I'm shooting to London to get some much needed reference photos and to meet up with an old friend who really needs to update his twitter.

Thank You!

Fonts by Hoefler&Co.

One of the great joys of designing typefaces is seeing them in the wild, and discovering what new voices people have coaxed out of your work. A year ago today, we launched Cloud.typography, and had no idea that we’d be presented with these delights so deeply, so rapidly, and so often: for twelve months, we’ve watched designers sign up for the service one day, build things the next, and deploy their sites the following morning.

Football as Football

Fonts by Hoefler&Co.

As the World Cup winds down, many Americans will turn from the excitement and agony of football to another beloved pastime: football. American football, to be precise. This year, six Minneapolis co-workers have combined these obsessions with their love of design into a single experience called Football as Football , which reimagines the logos of American football teams in the heraldic language of the great European football clubs.
