Photographs: Marianne Wie. The sweet and the sinister commingle in Rebecca Stevenson ‘s wax sculptures that depict humans and animals bursting open to reveal flowers and fruits. Classical busts and seemingly deceased animals are surrounded by ribboning cascades of plants. To create her sculptures, Stevenson starts by modeling the animal or figure in clay, and then moulds and casts the model with layered resin and wax.

YO! has been overhauled by consultancy Zag, in an attempt to “reposition the brand within an increasingly competitive market” The brand update includes the assets such as menu design, packaging and restaurant interiors, as well as a range of new dining experiences. Aran Potkin, Zag’s managing partner, says that despite YO! being an “iconic” brand, it had “lost its sense of food and flavour, as well as the distinctive assets to be uniquely identifiable.”

Last week I talked about the creative process, Inktober and unexpected collaborations. I also dared you to find inspiration in an unlikely place… I found inspiration at a women’s dance workshop I attended recently. I was reminded of how amazingly liberating creating art can be when you are “feeling” instead of “thinking” the process. It was very challenging to let go of judgements about the art I was making, but I’m happy I kept going even though it felt uncomfortable.

When Justin Lyles started work with Dell 13 years ago, the landscape of the company was vastly different. Lyles had joined as a lead designer after working for seven years at Nokia. There, he says he “cut his chops” the European way, working closely with teams in the UK and Copenhagen from his base in California.
