During the last Milan Men’s Fashion Week F/W 21/22, Prada presented the collection “Possible Feelings” designed by the creative director duo Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons.

The digital fashion show took place at the maison’s Milan headquarter and the showspace was designed by Rem Koolhaas and AMO studio.

The mood of the collection derives from this long period of suspension and distancing and from the desire of physical contact that has been taken away from us

The Prada Fall Winter 2021 Menswear collection by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons takes as its basis an intimate and personal wish for contact, our urge to exchange and relate. The foundation of all is the individual: the human body, and its freedom. The need to feel, the pleasure of tactility, results in a panoply of surface, texture and textile.” we read on the Prada website.

The collection expresses precisely this desire through enveloping and comfortable shapes and with tactile fabrics such as velvet, jacquard, nylon, wool and tweet bouclé.

The set was all about “touch”, it was designed to transmit the idea behind the collection:  “the show’s ‘non-spaces’ are defined by panes of marble, resin, plaster and faux fur. Inviting and seductive, they can pretend to be both interior and exterior, hard and soft, warm and cold: simultaneously both and neither, they allow absolute freedom of interpretation and expression. Each room excites the senses: backdrops brilliantly-hued, the models’ isolated passages underscored by an original electronic soundtrack by Plastikman aka Richie Hawtin. Devised by Rem Koolhaas and AMO”, Prada writes.

The space was organized in a series of circular, rectangular and hexagonal rooms each with a different atmosphere, different colors and cladded with a variety of materials. The sequence of the rooms symbolize different moments of the day and the desire for touch that we are missing.

With the intention of repurpose the furnishing and materials used to create the show space, Prada will recycle the scenography and use the materials for special installations and pop-ups throughout the world. Finally, these materials will be donated to Meta, a circular economy project based in Milan which proposes sustainable solutions for the disposal of waste produced by temporary events, through the sale or rent of the recovery materials. Meta works in collaboration with La Réserve des arts, an association that offers a service for the collection and recovery of materials and decorative waste from fashion shows, making them available to professionals and students of the cultural sector.
