When urban planning students across North America returned to their studies amid a global pandemic, all classes had moved online and opportunities for invaluable co-op placements providing real-world experiences were drastically reduced. As two Black women and second-year graduate students at Toronto’s York University, we went back to school with these concerns, plus feelings of trauma and loss resulting from the anti-Black violence taking place across our cities.
