“Left Behind” by Photographer Angela Strassheim

A selection of images from “Left Behind”, by Stamford, Connecticut-based photographer Angela Strassheim (previously featured here). After the events of September 11th, while in graduate school at Yale, Strassheim began photographing her family in an introspective exploration of her upbringing in a born-again Christian home.

“The title refers to the Tim Lahaye book with the same title about the end times when Jesus calls his people to heaven and all the sinners and disbelievers are left behind”, Strassheim explains. “It also refers to family and friends that are left mourning and how they carry on after the death of a loved one.”
