Ethiopian American industrial designer and artist Jomo Tariku exhibited four chair and stool designs in partnership with Wexler Gallery at Design Miami/ 2022. He’s best known for creating ergonomic furniture inspired by his African roots – from culture to architecture, landscapes to wildlife, and colors to hairstyles. KiKi ARCHi and TAKiBI joined forces to design the DOMA House in Kamakura, Japan. The home offers a modern spin on the “doma,” a traditional Japanese architectural design element which refers to the transitional space at the entrance of a Japanese home that joins the outside with the interior on different levels. In contemporary times, the “doma” has evolved to become an entry porch, which the architects expanded upon and extended the idea for the DOMA House.

New York-based interdisciplinary design studio Apparatus once again stunned us with their creative exploration and innovation in lighting design, this time with their Median collection. The series’ name refers to the alabaster planes that intersect the fluted brass forms in their mid-sections. A hidden light source illuminates the translucent stone and differentiates the solid from the permeable.
