Fear and Loathing in Comics: Jim Mahfood’s Superb Illustrations
Jim Mahfood is an American comic book artist, author of the fierce Grrl Scouts ongoing and the Stupid Comics strip series, who has also worked on some of the Marvel Spider-Man series, including Ultimate Marvel Team-Up. In addition to comics, Mahfood draws illustrations for books and does a lot of other things – there are some video work for MTV at the end of the post for which he did the signature design, and it just blows my mind.
Mahfood is a tough but incredibly cool master of the grotesque. He’s like Ralph Steadman, who had too much coffee and hallucinogens and became even crazier than he is.
