Being a freelance web designer means more than just focusing on graphics and code. It also requires communicating with both current and prospective clients. The thing is, we can take any number of courses to help us learn a new app or programming language. But client relations? Those skills aren’t quite as easy to pick up. New designers are often unprepared for this part of the job.

German design studio Moby Digg has unveiled a series of redrawn country flags as part of a “digital protest” to highlight the danger of melting glaciers around the world. The project is in partnership with communications agency Serviceplan and environmental science specialists at METER, and uses climate data to reshape country flags. The digital protest will be held between the 9 -19 November, the original dates of the COP26 climate change conference.

Learning Blender 3D. abduzeedo 11.10.20 For the past month or so I started to learn 3D. My tool of choice, Blender. I played with Cinema 4D in the past. I think it’s a phenomenal tool, however, I cannot ignore the fact that it is expensive. Well, at least for me, which the purpose right now is learn and have fun, no ROI. I also knew about Blender, but didn’t know how active the community was.

Navid Baraty started taking the pictures by accident. He was up in a skyscraper high above New York City, doing his best to take an aerial photograph the low-tech way: by holding the camera in front of him, pointed straight down (and thus keeping him from checking the frame himself), and hoping for the best. Next week, November 17th and 18th, Scott Kelby and I take a deep dive into the world of flash. Scott, operating from a studio in Florida, and me, operating in a studio in Connecticut, cover the waterfront of flash use. Scott does basics–gear, buttons and dials, flash technique, and, as only Scott can, he also teaches some retouching. I’ll be doing advanced flash techniques, such as shadows and gels, building multi-flash scenarios, sorting out shapers to create beauty and character.
