Geoffroy Pithon's explosive mix of art and graphic design for Claptrap's latest music video

For its new track Out Of, French band Claptrap appointed Geoffroy Pithon and Gérald Fleury to create a stop-motion music video that mixes paint, drawings and paper cut-outs with a little lettering all in Pithon's distinctive style – a pleasing mash-up that treads a fine line between art and graphic design. Geoffroy Pithon was approached by Claptrap earlier last year to come up with an identity for its latest music album, Adulting, under the French record label Un je-ne-sais-quoi.

In today’s tutorial I’m going to show you how to create a colourful text effect with several stacked text elements that are progressively spaced further apart and transition through the colour spectrum to produce a rainbow effect. It reminds me of the kind of retro design you might see on an old VHS tape box or an ad for an 80s technology brand.
