This Artist Merges Animals and Plants into Breathtaking Porcelain Sculptures

Animals are not only our faithful companions, but they’re also a great source of inspiration for many artists. Canadian sculptor Ellen Jewett is certainly one of the many people who uses their love for nature and all the creatures that live in it, to create fascinating works of art.

“Plants and animals have always been the surface on which humans have etched the foundations of culture, sustenance, and identity. For myself, natural forms are a continual source of fascination and deep aesthetic pleasure,” Jewett wrote about her work on her website.

Her porcelain sculptures feature all sorts of animals taken out of their natural habitat and thrown into a new, fantasy environment. The animals in her sculptures are covered in breathtaking handcrafted details and according to the artist, every one of those details has a special meaning.
