A Mexican Hotel That Pays Homage to Its Heritage + Original Architecture

Maroma, A Belmond Hotel, a luxury resort located in Mexico’s Riviera Maya, recently underwent a redesign led by Tara Bernerd & Partners. The renovation pays homage to Mexican heritage while enhancing Maroma’s original architecture, which aligns with Mayan Sacred Geometry. The design team collaborated with local artisans to celebrate the rich diversity of Mexican art and design, resulting in a property that boasts furnishings and decor pieces, predominantly handcrafted within Mexico.

The hotel embodies an effortless, hacienda-style ambiance. Its design promotes a seamless flow between communal and private spaces, encouraging exploration and appreciation of its many considered details. Among the property’s features are three pools, restored with Sukabumi tiles to mirror the turquoise hues of the local cenotes, further integrating the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Accommodations at Maroma span across its pristine beachfront, with several offering direct beach access and panoramic ocean views. New beachfront suites and villas offer varying levels of privacy and luxury, including options with private pools and gardens. The hotel’s partnership with Collectiva ConcepciĂłn and XinĂș highlights its dedication to social responsibility and local craftsmanship.
