Cavalcade, an Australian men’s magazine, was first published in the early 1940s amidst World War II. Initially, it focused on serious topics, predominantly featuring content related to the war. The early editions included cartoons and jokes that were relatively harmless.

However, as the magazine evolved over time, it began to incorporate more provocative content, both in its cartoons and sensational text stories. Some editions showcased well-crafted comic stories illustrated by Phil Belbin. By the end of its publication, Cavalcade had transformed into a magazine resembling Playboy in its content and style.
