The Lincoln Futura, created by the Lincoln division of Ford Motor Company, was a standout concept car that made its debut in the 1955 auto show circuit.

Its design was a dramatic departure from the norm, featuring a unique double clear-plastic canopy top, large outward-canted tailfins, and distinctive hooded headlight pods. This fully operable concept car was powered by a 368 cubic inch Lincoln engine and built on a chassis derived from the Lincoln Mark II.

Constructed entirely by hand in Turin, Italy, by the renowned craftsmen of Ghia, known for their exceptional metalwork, the Futura had a construction cost of an astounding $250,000. Despite its ground-breaking features and stunning design, the Futura never went into production.

However, its legacy was cemented when George Barris, a famous Hollywood customizer, purchased the car in 1959 and transformed it into the iconic Batmobile for the 1966-1968 Batman television series. This transformation turned the Lincoln Futura into a legendary vehicle, revered by car enthusiasts and Batman fans alike.
