“Mirror Portraits” by Photographer Matthew Morrocco

Los Angeles-based photographer Matthew Morrocco photographs his friends and artistic circle for his ongoing series, “Mirror Portraits.” Originally conceived as a means to expand the visual space in his photographs, the series has since evolved into what Morrocco describes as “a study in self-actualization and friendship in an ever-expanding, complex, and individualistic industry.” He explains how the work has taken on a new meaning within the context of COVID and its impact on creatives:

“During Covid, I hoped these pictures would be a reminder of the people who invest their time and energy into bringing beautiful things into the world and what’s at stake for them during this time. The pictures are a visual representation of a social network and a testament to the self-actualizing effect of taking one’s own image.”
