Sculptural feelings with Fanny Ollas

Sculptural Feelings with Fanny Ollas

Fanny Ollas’ sculptures have an earnest, anthropomorphic quality. Her vases have imperfect, irregular surfaces and like human emotions, they express feeling and character, rather than logic and precision.

Based in Stockholm, Ollas is a ceramic artist and designer with a background in fashion. From textiles to stoneware, she is interested in how tactile materials might express intangible states and emotions. Her sculptures imagine the emotional scope and expression of clay pieces; vases appear to ‘vomit’ emotion, tie themselves in knots and wilt from exhaustion.

Ollas’ pieces span the spectrum of feeling, communicating humour, melancholy and naive charm. They speak to us in a language we all understand.

Following her first solo show last autumn, Ollas has designed an exclusive collection of vases for The Ode To, which extends her project of making internal landscapes external. Pairing her endearing aesthetic with emotional exploration, this collection is not to be missed.
