Located in the heart of Shanghai, Hypocam House is a customized renovation project of an old building. By navigating the original elements of architecture such as the facade, mosaic tiles and wooden floors, Wutopia Lab was commissioned to reimagine the space and infuse it with modern character.
Color and textures served as a primary tool in the execution process with black, white and navy setting the background theme. The minimalist feel was complemented with a selection of retro furniture and opening up the rooms as all doors were removed. Light connects the spaces and leads naturally to the private courtyard made of glossy marble and gravel. An old tree was preserved in the center – a nod towards the tradition that determined the spirit of the place. Upstairs offers more futuristic ambience featuring arched doorways, grain walls and more contrasting color combinations.
