Introducing Instagram’s latest design crush: Gustaf Westman

Loved by Scandinavian influencers and design-conscious creatives, Gustaf Westman’s pastel-perfect furniture is dominating our Instagram feeds this summer.

This Swedish architect-turned-furniture-designer is guided by principles of accessibility, colour and fun, citing Danish designer Arne Jacobsen and of course, the Memphis Group, as influences on his style.

Sleek, chic and sugary, Westman’s pieces are characterised by considered curves and a muted palette. His collection features curvy desks, melting flower pots and textured foam tables, all of which are made in Stockholm.

Westman’s most covetable piece is the Curvy Mirror (you know the one); a reflective surface encased in squiggles of pistachio, blush pink or lemon yellow. This mirror, available in two sizes and many more fondant shades, is a contemporary ode to the Ultrafragola, a curvaceous, illuminated mirror designed by Memphis Group founder Ettore Sottsass.

Merging the playfulness of Memphis with the minimalism of Scandinavian design, Westman’s pieces are here for a good time, and a long time.
