“The Home Stayer” by Illustrator Luis Mendo

Tokyo-based illustrator Luis Mendo has found a silver lining in the Coronavirus pandemic—the idea that this shared experience has the potential to bring us all together. He says, “our spirits live in the very same city at the same time: it’s a city called home”.

Mendo has started a personal isolation project, creating covers for an imaginary magazine call, The Homestayer. Each cover playfully presents a glimpse of everyday life in this city called home, in a style that pays homage to The New Yorker. Have a look below at the covers he’s done so far, and if you wanna purchase a print of any of the covers head over here.
