Throughout the year, people come to Peters Valley for meaningful hands-on learning with expert instructors in myriad disciplines, like blacksmithing, fine metals, ceramics, woodworking, printmaking, fibers, and more. In addition, all are invited to get inspired and support local and national artists through our in-person and online galleries.

Six projects will be selected for publishing at no cost. Midwest Open (Midwest) Chicago’s Woman Made Gallery hosts the annual Midwest Open to highlight the work of women and nonbinary artists. Residents will participate in public workshops and lectures, exhibit their works, and receive housing, airfare, ¥10,000, and more.

Submissions will be juried by Emily Edwards, assistant curator at Dallas Contemporary, and Inês Costa, curator at Focal Point Gallery, Southend-on-Sea. Gallery invites curators to submit proposals for the next CURRENTS exhibition, which will run from January 6 to February 4, 2024. Deadline: 11:59 p.m. PST on May 16, 2023.

Open Calls Franklin Furnace 2023 XENO Prize for Artists’ Books (International) This prize offers $5,000 to one artist to publish an artist’s book centered around book banning/burning in an edition of at least 120 copies. 20,000 will be split between six winners, who will exhibit their work at Saatchi Gallery in London.

The contest is organized by the Fondazione culture e musei and MUSEC museum in Lugano, in collaboration with the 29 ARTS IN PROGRESS gallery in Milan and the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti in Venice. Artists receive free lodging, studio space, and opportunities for exhibition, lectures, workshops, and other public programming.
