Anna Money is hosting a freelancers’ Christmas party that can be written off as an expense
This time of year can be a sad old time for freelancers. While in-house creative types are knee-deep in secret Santas, festival playlists and Christmas drinks, a freelance office party can often be you, drinking a beer alone in your bedroom. But never fear, this year business current account Anna Money is hosting an xmas bash, The Totally Expensable Christmas Party, where freelancers can have some drinks with fellow creatives and also write off the cost against their tax bill.
Anna Money’s Dionne Griffith explains: “Anyone that is registered as a sole trader or self-employed might not know that there’s an expense allowance of £150 per person for Christmas entertainment. So we thought why not let people know this, invite them to join us for a party safe in the knowledge that they can claim the cost as an expense when doing their tax return.”
The party, which will be held on 11 December at Village Underground, is for anyone that runs a small business, is a freelancer, entrepreneur or independent creative. There will be a free bar, Guilty Pleasures are in charge of the tunes, and the best thing is that if you make a total tit out of yourself, you never have to see anyone ever again.
“The typical work Christmas party can be a bit awks,” says Griffith. “People you see every day suddenly might show their true colours after a few drinks. And there’s the risk of doing something embarrassing in front of your boss.” Whereas at Anna’s party, there’ll be 300 likeminded strangers where everyone is their own boss. “There’s no risk of having to talk to someone you’ve tried to avoid all year, no naff paper hats and you won’t get a terrible Secret Santa present that you end up re-gifting.”
And what’s cheaper than expensable? Free! The first 50 It’s Nice That readers can snap up free tickets to the party by entering the promo code ‘itsniceanna’ here.
