July 17: Bruce Mau

For over 35 years, Canada-born, Chicago-based designer Bruce Mau has pushed the boundaries of graphic design — operating at the edge of strategy, branding, signage, environments and philosophy. In 1985, he founded his eponymous studio, where he would lead the development identifies for some of the world’s leading institutions, from the Museum of Modern Art and OCAD University to the Seattle Public Library.

Mau’s 24 principles forming his Incomplete Manifesto for Growth are the foundation of “MC24,” his latest book with Phaidon.

Following his work on the seminal publications S,M,L,XL (1995) and Massive Change (2004), Mau co-founded both the design consultancy Massive Change Network as well as the Institute Without Boundaries, an interdisciplinary design program based in Toronto. He is currently chief design officer of Freeman and author of the new book Bruce Mau: MC24, published by Phaidon.

Stay tuned for more face to face interviews with global creatives!
