Photographer Spotlight: Darryl Richardson

Darryl Richardson is a self-taught photographer and filmmaker originally from Chicago’s Southside. Currently based between New York and Mexico City, Richardson describes the overarching purpose of his work: “It’s work that aims to create new narratives for underrepresented people and communities across the world.” A medley of documentary, portraiture, and conceptual art, his work has taken him to many different places, including Northern Kenya and Costa Chica, Oaxaca, most recently.

Richardson’s work has afforded him the opportunity to create for a diverse roster of clients such as Nike, Gap, and GMC, and his his first two publications, ‘NOWHERE’ and ‘Link in Bio’, are a part of the Museum of Modern Art Library’s permanent collection.
