Enjoy Your Food On The Go Sustainable With Street Food Box

by Chloe Gordon on 04/02/2021 | 2 Minute Read

Street Food Box, designed by White Bear Studio have tapped into a very important fact to create this sustainable, innovative, and portable food container. When close to 50% of recyclables end up in landfills or incineration, it makes sense to find other ways to help the environment. That's where Street Food Box comes in and motivates consumers to reuse as much, if not more, than they recycle.

The box itself is made from PRIPLAK®, a patented polypropylene, it is available in a wide range of colors, and can be printed with any custom-ordered design. The material has obtained the triple certification for the environment, it's halogen free, non-toxic, and is 100% recyclable.

Next time you're packing your breakfast, lunch, or dinner to go, picture this sustainable box you could and should be using.

Street Food Box is a product for food realists, time-poor urbanites, and a generation that values the environment as much as their takeaway lunch. We were challenged to educate consumers on the importance of reusing over recycling (50% of recycling goes to landfill or incineration), and create excitement in the customer's eyes about being part of something bigger than them. Equally, the brand messaging needed to be as simple and impactful as the product.

The common misconception is that recycling is a simple way to reduce environmental impact, so exploring the themes of recycling alongside reuse was an obvious first step. Recycling is so universally known, it has its own logo. This inspired us to transform the Street Food Box itself into its own recognizable symbol for reuse. The logo and brand icon conveys the entire purpose of Street Food Box before opening the packaging.

To generate emotional connection and a sense of engagement with the brand’s purpose, we played with deliberately provocative language like ‘Don’t recycle, reuse’. The campaign strapline ‘Eat, Rinse, Sleep, Repeat,’ tells customers how to use the product while simultaneously ringing loud as a memorable brand mantra. In a similar repetitive style, we created a pattern to be used across packaging, customisable to the fast-food chain it will appear in.
