ABS Objects is a design and ceramic studio found in 2018 in Tel Aviv by Avi Ben Shoshan.
The visual language of ABS Objects refers to nature, with organic shapes and colors and material of the Middle East as creative signature. The designer drives inspiration from history, archeology and traditional art and craft.
“My biggest inspirations are archeology and the human body. I always try to make objects that people can identify with. I want my objects to be timeless as I think of them as eternal things that can live forever among other historical objects.I am also inspired by the local history. The Mediterranean ceramics as well as Middle Eastern arts and crafts.” says Avi Ben Shoshan.
Through his collection, the designer explores the relationship between humans and objects. Most of the objects refer in fact to the body and its shape.
“I would like to think my objects have no gender, they can be both male and female. Meaning, I look at them as a living organism, materially and formally. Working with clay often feels like you’re working with a living thing. All of the objects I design refer to the body and its shape. I would like to think of them as living creatures. Maybe that’s what makes people want them in their homes.” Says the designer.
All the objects are handmade in Tel Aviv by Avi Ben Shoshan from start to finish, which makes every creation slightly different and unique. The designer focuses on creating timeless products through a sustainable process. All ABS Objects are produced in a traditional artisan way.
