Genevieve Blais is a photo-based artist earning great praise for her work involving art historical and theoretical narratives. The artist’s twisted representation of familiar subject matter characterizes her fantasy world. Her captivating yet sinister work draws on themes of sexuality, mortality and symbolism.

Blais’ works have been commissioned by national institutions like the Royal Ontario Museum and the Ontario Science Center, exhibited nationally and featured on a range of publications across mediums from Beautiful/Decay, the Today Show to Photo+ in Korea. She currently lives and works in Toronto.

According to an artist: “We could all use a smile in lieu of recent events, so I decided to update art history for 2020.”
