A raw and minimalist style for La Petite cafe [Abu Dhabi]

In the city of Al Ain in Abu Dhabi, Bone studio has redesigned La Petite cafe taking inspiration from the colors and texture of the surrounding desert.

The 85 square meter space is now traversed by a long pink plaster counter. Conceived in two blocks of different heights, this monolithic volume highlights the longitudinal nature of the space and serves as a worktop, service space, table and seat.

On one side, a padded bench has been integrated into the counter creating extra sitting space for the costumers. This takes its cue from the Arabic term majlis, a private lounge where guests are welcomed and entertained, typically sitting on floor cushions arranged along the walls.

Studio Bone revamped the cafe with a raw and minimalist style, choosing simple materials, clean lines and a palette of pink and earth colors.

The surfaces have been washed with sand beige plaster and the color is a subtle reference to the Al Ain desert landscape.
The feeling of softness and calm is counterbalanced by the ultra-minimal steel tables and the geometric Triangolo chairs by Frama.
