I first posted about the Stendig Calendar back in 2012, and then of course, the great Massimo Vignelli was very much alive.

With his passing at the age of 83, on the 27th May 2014, we are still very much left with his immense legacy, and that Vignelli continues to inspire each and new generation of creative designer.

Even though the Stendig Calendar was first designed way back in 1966—it was even taken that year to the Design Collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)—one of the clock-work like homages to the great man, is that the Stendig Calendar continues to be updated and sold, year after year after year.

Read on to see how you can own one yourself.

In 1986 a colour version was produced (below) that alternates between these 6 different color/typeface combinations:

In the Vignelli archives, there is just the one sketch drawn by the great master, of the 1978 version.

Stendig: “Created by Massimo Vignelli for Charles Stendig in 1966, the Stendig Calendar is the only calendar hanging in New York’s MoMA. Loved by designers, architects and fans of minimalism the world over, it is constructed from tear-off sheets of 160 gsm paper, and printed in the iconic typeface Helvetica. The months alternate black and white and the top binding strip has three black eyelets for easy level hanging.”
